Mrs. Thedia M. Harris, an employee for many years (1950s –
1970s) of Bluefield State College University is honored by her
family and BSU. In 2017, a challenge was issued by The Shott
Foundation for the purpose of raising funds for new
construction of on-campus housing. Specific incentives were
offered, and choosing to honor her, Mrs. Harris’ family met
the required incentive challenge to have her picture and
plaque placed in the Heritage dormitory. While it is currently
placed in the student center on the fourth floor of the
Bluefield Medical Center dorms, BSU officials plan to relocate
the plaque and picture to the Heritage on-campus housing
when it is completed. Mrs. Harris will celebrate her 100th
birthday in December.
